A place to blather on, and to see what's worth bothering over.
I loved Girl on a Train!
So what did you think of My Grandfather...
My Grandfather was a quick read, not lyrical, but more journalistic in style. Mostly about her journey both as a black German adopted by a white family, and as the bio-daughter of her much damaged mother. I thought she showed a fair amount of compassion given the circumstances.I loved her description of Tel a Viv, and being a black German in Israel learning Hebrew and doing graduate work there. Her discovering her bio history and coming out to her Israeli friends was powerful.I wonder, given what we're learning about epigenics, how/if her bio mom ever had a chance, and I'm impressed by the author's strength of character.
