So what did you think of My Grandfather...

My Grandfather was a quick read, not lyrical, but more journalistic in style. Mostly about her journey both as a black German adopted by a white family, and as the bio-daughter of her much damaged mother. I thought she showed a fair amount of compassion given the circumstances.

I loved her description of Tel a Viv, and being a black German in Israel learning Hebrew and doing graduate work there. Her discovering her bio history and coming out to her Israeli friends was powerful.

I wonder, given what we're learning about epigenics, how/if her bio mom ever had a chance, and I'm impressed by the author's strength of character.
